Known to many as (DBO), a true spoken word “Gentle Giant.” Yes a big man in statue, but a humble man at heart, with a passion for Jesus Christ that shows in all of his work. DBO’s mission is to wake up a lost and sleeping generation, set them free of traditional ways and win their souls to Christ. His work has a rough, rugged, raw approach which is full of personal testimonies and life changing experiences that will allow a person know Jesus is real!

Being a spoken word artist is just one part of DBO’s ministry. He is also known as “The Truth Hustler” in a gospel rap group named “The Soul Stealers”. DBO is the forerunner of the group which also includes The Blacksheep from Poetry In The Light, whose stage name is “Notdatcat”. The Soul Stealers soon to be released CD entitled “Christ Is King” has received rave reviews with many requests for return appearances by organizations which have witnessed their awesome ministry.

Born in Petersburg, VA. And now living in Richmond, VA; DBO began writing musical lyrics in the 70’s and then poetry in 2000. He made his first appearance at Good Fridays in Durham, N.C. in 2001. In 2002 DBO was the featured poet at Good Fridays Live in Richmond, VA. In December of that year DBO was interviewed on the Gospel Fruits Radio Show, WFTH 1590AM. He was also interviewed for Jehovaz Creations WPEX 90.9FM in 2003. In 2004 DBO later started a blessed and divine relationship with The Poetry In The Light family/Organization at “The Ark Restaurant” in Durham, N.C. In 2005 he toured with PITL on The True Spoken Word Tour in Charlotte, N.C.

In 2007 DBO appeared at U-Turn’s Fall Explosion in Richmond Va., and the 2nd Annual Barber Shop Awards Dinner in Richmond, VA. DBO had two appearances in 2008 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA. Also in 2008 The Soul Stealers/PITL opened for comedian Jason Earls at U-Turn’s Benefit Banquet in Richmond, VA. In 2008 was the release of the PITL CD and CD/DVD release party in Raleigh N.C. in which DBO & CECE ministered the title theme track “PITL Is A Family”. In 2009 DBO appeared at Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple (Praiz Poet) in Petersburg, VA. DBO also featured at Clegg’s Chapel “PITL Night” in Timberlake, N.C. In December 2009 DBO opened for William Murphy III (formally a member of Shekinah Glory Ministries) at the Word of God Fellowship in Richmond, VA.

DBO’s spoken word CD “Spoken Word In It’s Realist Form” is scheduled for release in the near future along with his book entitled (If You Judge Me By My Past) He also appeared on the Poetry In The Light CD project, which was released in 2008. DBO is known for the powerful testimonial piece, “If You Judge Me by My Past… ” And the upbeat So Fresh, So Clean (Just when You Think You Got It) through the power of Jesus Christ, look for DBO to help make changes in people & places, especially where change was slated as impossible!
