In The Light… |
| I
would like to share with the World what took place at our 2008 "Leaders
In The Light" Retreat. It was truly AWESOME! We arrived with a spirit
of expectation and departed with our cups running over!
-Apostle
Holloway There was such incredible teaching and worship...constant prayer! YOU HAD TO BE THERE! My ministry was taken to a new level.
I realized just how important this ministry is to this generation. I could see God taking it to the next level...and I am honored that He chose me to carry His message. Words are powerful...and they are particularly important to God! To be given a gift of "Spoken Word" is such a blessing and responsibility. You are penetrating souls with a prophetic word that's being presented with an artistic excellence. We are a "New Breed" of Leadership. To
God be all the glory, honor and praise for His excellence, holiness and
magnificence! Shout praises to His name...HE IS WORTHY, HE IS WORTHY!
I praise God for my brothers and sisters in Christ. -In
Jesus' Name Amen! I think this is a wonderful idea and from the way it sounds it's long overdue... In today's society we need as much mental support from the positive people we have in our lives because without it, it can be a rough road to travel. Personally I think I will benefit from it because it is drawing more positive and God fearing people into my life that would otherwise be nowhere to be found. I need to start weaning out the bad and allow in the good. I thank God all the time that I have met people as caring as the PITL family. I cant wait to meet everyone and learn more and more about each and every one of them and their family members. I love all of you very much and look forward to spending the weekend around such great God fearing people. I have a feeling that its gonna make a BIG difference in my life. When I think of it, it brings tears to my eyes. This is something I have been waiting for, for a long long time. Finally, people that Love God so much they represent him nearly 24/7. Not just in the Church but also in the streets. They're not ashamed of it. They enjoy it, and they are normal just like me! -Katheryn Zoll Many
thanks for making me feel so special. When I think about how God has placed
me in this family my heart becomes overwhelmed and I realize I am a very
Blessed woman to have all of you in my life. First, I want to start off by saying, “Yes I do believe that God has called me to be a poet as well as a servant-hand in the PITL Family/Ministry.” The type of poetry, which God has blessed me with, is the gift of healing through words and not just mere spoken word. I know that God has called me to this specific ministry at this point and season in my life. It is my desire to be more involved wherever I can be of service. It will be an honor to help finished what God had started with the PITL Family. -Cecilia
Lewis We believe that God has called us to be a part of the PITL family! -Lavar & Tina Lovelace “Womanstorm” I
know God called me to be a part of the Poetry In The Light Family. The
first time Duane and Troy approached me to join this awesome fellowship
I hesitated because so many opportunities were presented on the table
all at once. While I realized God chose me as a vessel to participate
in building His kingdom, I feared that I could not -Sir Charles Freeman I believe God has called me to be in the PITL family. You ask why? Because I'm here! Not trying to sound Like I'm all that. No! I just Felt lead by the spirit to be a part of a mighty move of God. Sometimes you don't know where you’re going or why God has ordered your steps, but I do know that I must respond to his call and will for my life & family. I'm really excited about the awesome things God is going to do for others and myself. I’m just humbled to be chosen by God and to be in the PITL family. If I can be of help I will, if I can’t I won't. Meaning I won’t operate in a gift that I don't have. I'm a good listener and teacher. -Lawrence Davis “Amos” First I just want to thank God to PITL Management. It is truly a blessing what PITL is doing and what it stands for. I firmly believe that I was called to be a part of this ministry and to use my gift and talent in Theatre/Television to uplift Christ. Everyday it seems like there is always something trying to keep me away from doing what I love. And that is performing in a manner that is pleasing to God, be it in theater/TV/Mime…whatever. Through these vehicles my hope is that they minister to the masses and bring souls to Christ. In the past, I’ve been dealing with some things which had caused a bit of a slow down, but I felt I had to go through these things to humble myself (experience brokenness) and teach myself how to lean on Christ wholeheartedly, and not just sometimes. I am not ashamed to admit my brokenness. I am learning that my praise and worship has to be the same no matter what the circumstances. If all Hell breaks loose in my life my praise and worship still has to be the same as if all was well in my life. Because in actuality it is! It would only be face value (Hell) if I didn't know Christ. So in short… I feel that God has called me to be a part of this ministry. -Christopher
Neill Bailey Sr. I agree with everything this organization is saying. Just let me know what you need from me. I am willing to sow what I can into Poetry In The Light. I believe in what this organization is doing. I am practicing everyday so I’ll be ready for the next event. Love and Peace! -Pharoah I believe and know that God called me to be a part of Poetry in the Light because the same time the ministry was being formed (Spring 2004) was the time God called me into the ministry of spoken word. As the youngest member of the PITL family, I hope to learn as much as I can from my sisters and brothers in this ministry. I also hope to work with the youth and other new artists. I want to encourage them to grow in their gift and share what I am learning. Also I have a heart for my community (faith wise and culturally) and I believe that we as people of God need to have a holistic approach to living for God. Meaning that we need to see our relationship with God reflected in our diet, relationships, economics, prayer life, etc. Also, in junction with my heart for the youth, I believe we need rites of passage programs that define womanhood and manhood according to God's standards, to teach youth not just how to pray and worship, but how to live and balance their humanness with their spirituality. Peace
& Blessings, I am with what ever the PITL mission is because this organization is about spreading the word of God. Being a part of this has been a real blessing for me. As an artist I will always be willing to get in where I fit in. -Glenn McGilvery “DBO” (Deliverance By Obedience) I really believe that God's grace is on PITL and I'm glad to be a part of it. I think about our first event at "The ARK" Restaurant and the ministry I shared because of my relationship with God and Duane. Since that night God has blessed me in many ways. I'm available for providing music. I know that I don't have the time to be one of the "foot soldiers" of this ministry, however, the management team can feel free to call on me. Like I said before, I'm available for music. I'll do what I can and/or whatever I have to do in helping this ministry to go further. -David Bailey I
am so excited that it made my spiritual baby "Leap". -Felicia G Haven International Ministries, NY Overseer Richard Hartley I want to say "thank you" for asking me to be a part of PITL-Atlanta. After speaking with you and Minister Bunch last night, I know that this is something I need to do. I will definitely remain in prayer about it as I was encouraged to do on last night, but I am definitely excited about what God is doing for and through this organization. I
really was about to cry as I realized just how important it was for Brian
and I to move here in this season. It brought a whole new light to understanding
the value of “SIMPLY SHOWING UP TO WHERE GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO BE”. -Heather Thompson-ATL I know that God has graciously selected me to be a part of this ministry team called Poetry In The Light. He wants me to utilize my gift of poetry and spoken word to draw all men unto Him. Scripture teaches us that death and life are in the power of our tongues, therefore I am commissioned by God to speak life into dead circumstances, and freedom into lives that are imprisoned. When I was on HELL’s hit list God spoke to me and said, “LIVE! Freely I have received, freely I will give.” Poetry In The Light is not another form of frivolous entertainment that intoxicates the minds of the masses while numbing the pain of their reality, but with the spoken word of God, penetrating the soul and spirit to bring forth healing and deliverance for the kingdom of God! -Ron Roseboro “Disciple” "As I introduced the co-founders of Poetry In The Light to one another, I feel I was destined to be a part. Though I had no idea that God was using me to join two dynamic men to lead an awesome ministry, I am thankful to be using my gift with other Believers. Being a part of the PITL Family means I do not always have to be on the mic, but rather, I can often take a seat and be fed from other wordsmith." -Angela Ray I would be a good fit for the PITL because a lot of the messages I heard on the DVD seemed to be geared toward relationships and people’s personal testimonies. I haven’t been through a lot of the things other people have so God lets me sort of speak out with that "voice of morality or correction". Not because I’m perfect but because it is necessary. God made us to STAND OUT, to set an example for those who haven’t found Him yet, not to look down on them but to correct and encourage them. The standard we set is not for sinners to live like us, but for them to live how God wants them to live. They should be able to see how God requires them to live by looking at our lives. I think your mission statement is being accomplished! I’m all for being a church without walls because we have to go get these people! Mark 16:15 Jesus says, "Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature." So nobody can make me believe that we’re supposed to be restricted to a church building! -Deidra
