In
other words she feels that in order for one, to be interested in something,
they must somehow be able to relate to it or understand it. And if they
can relate, it will empower them, motivates them, and assures them that
they are not alone in this journey.
Ortavia also known
as Wisdom, is a poet who stands on her motto…”A Natural
Flow with a Spiritual Twist”, because she believes that for every
Natural occurrence in Life, there is a Spiritual influence.
She goes by the name Wisdom because her mission is to convey to the
masses that; You will never experience the true value of LIFE unless
you approach it BY seeking WISDOM…the WISDOM of God not the rationalization
of man.
Ortavia has been
writing poetry for over 12 years, she has recited/ministered her poetry
at multiple church services, youth cafes, woman’s conferences,
juvenile detention centers, the deaf association (where is she is being
taught to communicate in sign language), fundraiser's, and choir anniversaries.
She has broadened her ministry to conducting poetry workshops, various
open mic venues, street fairs, and colleges for motivational speaking.
She has also submitted her works in various anthologies, one specifically
for a fundraiser to help the Hurricane Katrina victims, book is entitled;
The Lion Speaks, and she was also posted on the cover of the online
magazine; Open Mic as the poet of the month.
Ortavia has self published her own book of poetry entitled; Divine Destiny:
through a journey called Life, in June 2005. She is now in the process
of publishing her second manuscript, Life By Wisdom: Poetry for your
Body, Soul, Spirit. She is a mentor too many in the local community
and churches.
Ortavia’s
goal is to see people make decision based on the knowledge they obtain,
the wisdom they apply and not their circumstances. Also to save souls,
motivate the youth who love to express themselves in writing, to step
out and do it because even the youth need to be heard.
